QUESTION Do you think marijuana should be legalized? INTRODUCTION Due to the evidence that I have found through researching the topic, I do not believe that marijuana should be legalized. Although there are many reasons why marijuana should not be legalized, I will be focusing upon the adverse effects of cannabis on the brain; including its modulation of drug reward within the brain, its effects on the structure and function of the brain, and its causation of an increased risk of psychiatric problems or substance abuse. THESIS I believe that marijuana should not be legalized because the use of marijuana adversely effects the brain through various avenues by modulating drug reward, altering its structure and function, and increasing the risk of psychiatric problems and substance abuse.
